TREŠNJEVKA CULTURAL CENTRE

ABOUT US
Established in 1980. In 1994, the foundation rights passed on from the Centre to the City of Zagreb, which assumed the programming and operational responsibility.
The Centre is obliged to submit its annual plans to the City Department for Education, Culture and Sport, which then approves funds for selected programs.
Funding partially covers staff, salaries, material expenses and programs.
Trešnjevka Cultural Centre, situated in the town’s most populated boroughs; Trešnjevka Sjever and Trešnjevka Jug – with over 150 000 inhabitants, works both as a meeting point (social and cultural) in the neighbourhood and as a meeting point for various cultural and artistic events. We try both - to encourage artists in their expression and put an emphasize on the differences among them.
The main fields of activity are: cultural education, art education, the development of interest in culture, promotions of amateur art, as well as, planning and performing of various programs such as: concerts, exhibitions, theatre and dance performances, film and video art performances. Social and cultural projects are carried out through programs concerning social and cultural heritage, new modes in cultural production and communication, urban culture and sociology, emphasizing multicultural aspects.
Trešnjevka Cultural Centre is a member of ENCC since 2008. and partcipates in its BECC (Bridge Between Cultural Centres) programme.
